Travel grants can be applied for during February – May, and September – October by PhD students who are actively participating (oral presentation or poster) in scientific conferences within one of the Foundation’s prioritised areas. Grants are not awarded for courses, study visits, or similar activities, nor to individuals other than active PhD students enrolled at a Swedish higher education institution. Normally, only one PhD student from the same department is granted a travel grant to the same conference. Decisions are usually communicated within three weeks, during academic term time.

Applications should be submitted electronically to the Secretary, and should include (in the e-mail) a verification that the applicant is a doctoral student enrolled at a Swedish university, how the doctoral student will present the research results, the name of the conference, country and date of the conference, the scientific area of the applicant, and to which prioritized, independent research area(s) – that the Foundation support – the application applies to and the total amount in SEK, and should also include a compiled appendix (in Word format) with the following paragraphs and content:

A brief description of the applicant’s doctoral project and research area, along with specified connection(s) to one or more of the Foundation’s priority areas

Brief details of the intended conference, including name, location, and dates

Justification for participation and how the applicant intends to present results at the conference

Budget (daily allowances are not granted and should not be included, costs related to travels will only be approved for economy class/corresponding; shall be specified in the application) in SEK

Contact details for the applicant’s institutional affiliation

A travel report in digital pdf format must be submitted to the Foundation within one (1) month after the conference.
